Its effects are already being felt at the federal, state, and local levels. While federal agencies are the primary focus of the legislation, the new law will likely set the template for similar action at the state and local level. Agencies have only six months to develop a formal telework policy, and teleworkers must be given equal treatment in performance appraisals, work environments, and other areas. A watershed move to online workspaces is expected as a result.
